Regional Geology
Red Lake Greenstone Belt; situated on the northern limb of the Trout Bay syncline at the junction of the Trout Bay and Bridget Lake deformation zones.
Historical Exploration
The Bridget Lake Zone is a gold bearing, northerly trending and westerly dipping quartz-carbonate-vein zone located at the western end of Bridget Lake. In 1963, channel sampling across a portion of the zone returned 22.9 g/t Au over 4.8 m, which included 50.0g/t Au over 1.3 m and 39.4 g/t Au over 0.5 m. Follow-up "pac-sac" X-ray diamond drilling (14 holes totalling 392 m) under the discovery showing confirmed the grade and continuity of the mineralization to a depth of 25 m. Typical intersection returned 11.3 g/t Au over 1.2 m, 26.7 g/t Au over 0.6 m, 13.0 g/t Au over 1.5 m and 4.1 g/t Au over 0.3 m. The zone is open at depth and along strike.
Subsequent work in 1997, refurbished the discovery trench and confirmed the historic surface results. Additionally, this work discovered that the gold mineralization was not restricted to the vein zone material. Channel samples of the iron formation exposed in several outcrops assayed 2.1 g/t Au over 0.78 m, 5.6 g/t Au over 0.6 m and 3.7 g/t Au over 1.09 m. Channel samples of the dolomite assayed 3.9 g/t Au over 0.78 m and 6.9 g/t Au over 0.46 m.
The 1978 government sponsored airborne magnetometer and electromagnetic survey identified an easterly trending 800 m long variably conductive zone coincident with the discovery showing and extending easterly under the waters of Bridget Lake for approximately 600 m. Tribute believes this conductor reflects a zone of disseminated sulphide plus gold mineralization associated with intense hydrothermal alteration related to the Trout Bay deformation zone. Ground geophysics on the ice confirmed the airborne anomaly.
